Created by renowned Zhejiang master Wang Jungang, the commemorative cup brings the elegance of Chinese intangible cultural heritage into contemporary daily life.
VANCOUVER, BC — To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, C-DESIGNS is honoured to present a limited-edition Longquan celadon cup created by renowned ceramic artist Wang Jungang, a Master of Arts and Crafts of Zhejiang Province.
Born in Longquan, Zhejiang—the historic home of Chinese celadon—Wang Jungang is widely recognised for revitalising one of China’s most treasured ceramic traditions. His work brings together centuries-old craftsmanship and contemporary design, allowing the quiet beauty of celadon to speak to a new generation and an international audience.

Longquan celadon has been admired for more than a thousand years for its jade-like glaze, refined craftsmanship and timeless elegance. Its traditional firing technique is an important part of China’s intangible cultural heritage and represents an enduring dialogue between earth, fire, artistry and time.
Created especially for the Garden’s 40th anniversary, the commemorative cup draws inspiration from the Taihu rock, one of the most distinctive elements of classical Chinese gardens. Traditionally valued for its naturally sculpted form, the Taihu rock symbolises harmony between nature, artistic imagination and contemplation.
Wang translates this cultural symbol into a tactile relief on the cup’s surface. The sculptural detail invites the hand to experience the form, turning a functional everyday object into a small landscape that can be held, used and appreciated.

“This commemorative cup reflects our belief that cultural heritage should not remain distant from contemporary life,” said a representative of C-DESIGNS. “Through collaboration with leading Chinese artists and craftspeople, we hope to bring the elegance, beauty and spirit of Chinese design into people’s everyday experiences.”
The limited-edition cup also embodies the shared vision of C-DESIGNS and the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden: to connect heritage with contemporary living and introduce the depth of Chinese art, design and craftsmanship to audiences around the world.
Through partnerships with artists, makers and cultural institutions, C-DESIGNS is building a platform through which exceptional Chinese creativity can enter global cultural conversations. The anniversary cup is more than a commemorative object—it is a celebration of cultural continuity, master craftsmanship and the beauty of living with art.
